Document Retrieval Service

Among the changes to the bankruptcy laws brought on by the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (BAPCPA) is the requirement to assemble and deliver to the Trustee a large packet of supporting documents to the Trustee. Many of these documents are also critical to accurately completing your bankruptcy petition and schedules.

Unfortunately, gathering all of these documents is ordinarily a huge hassle. You may need to visit a number of government officials, courthouses, tax authorities, and more to obtain these documents. Most will charge you fees, and even then, you are not guaranteed to be given the precise paperwork necessary to file your Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 Bankruptcy case. This can cost you time, money, stress, and headache. Worst of all, failure to obtain all the necessary paperwork could delay the filing of your bankruptcy case, which could prolong a power shut-off, wage garnishment, and debt collector harassment. You might even miss the chance to stop a repossession or foreclosure due to these delays.

At the Holbus Law Office, L.L.C., we have taken the guesswork out of this exercise by developing the Document Retrieval Service (DRS). This system will obtain nearly all of the paperwork necessary to file your bankruptcy case for you - saving you time, money, and headache. We will obtain a credit report from TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax, your past four years of federal and state income tax transcripts, and enroll you in both required counseling courses which can be taken online or over the telephone.

We may also be able to retrieve documents relating to your home or vehicle, such as deeds, mortgages, property tax bills, and car titles. We are constantly working to improve the Document Retrieval Service to obtain more of the documents we need to file your case and to reduce your responsibilities.
